Mind & Emotions

The sutra (aphorism), “yogah citta vrtti nirodhah” from Yoga Sutras of Maharishi Patanjali, one of the central texts of yoga, explains that yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. Once the mind’s activity is quieted, we can have true perception. With this true perception, we can begin to understand the nature of our reality. The Yoga Sutras are a unique blend of psychology, philosophy, science, ethics, and spirituality.

Because yoga at its core is the science of the mind, yoga intrinsically encompasses psychology. Through yoga techniques, we learn how to liberate ourselves from suffering through psychophysiological discipline, knowledge, attitude, and a healthier way of life.

Yoga is not meant only for those willing to take an ascetic life; it is equally relevant to those who wish to live a normal life as a member of society. Although yoga is ancient, its teachings and techniques for a well-balanced mind remain potent and effective today, and its benefits are applicable universally.
